Swimming Pool

The Beacon has an outdoor, heated swimming pool, which is used as part of the PE programme during the summer term. Boys in all years from Nursery to Year 8 have swimming lessons, and swimming galas are held at the end of the summer term for each year group. Beacon boys also take part in competitive swimming events with other schools. During the summer holidays, the Parents’ Society use the pool to run a family swimming club.

Food is an important part of life at The Beacon. Food is cooked on site for break time snacks, lunches and after school tea, and we also run a Breakfast Club from 7.30 am. At lunchtimes, a choice of hot dishes is offered, including a vegetarian option, as well as soup, salads and puddings. Lunchtimes are staggered, with the youngest boys having lunch at midday, followed by the older boys. Assistance is available to help the younger children as required. The Dining Hall is accommodated in one of the original farm buildings and offers a particularly attractive venue, which is also available to rent for external events.
