A very warm welcome to everyone; we look forward to getting to know you over the forthcoming term. It has been a pleasure getting to know your little ones and watching them settle into their new environment. Their enthusiasm and curiosity is infectious, and we're excited to embark on this exciting learning journey together.
At Alice Smith Primary School, we want all of our students to flourish and thrive. We have busy days with many engaging activities. The children can get quite tired by the end of a fun-filled day, learning, playing with their friends and mastering new routines. It is important that the children are having enough sleep each night and are coming to school well rested in order to cope with the day and engage with the many learning opportunities on offer.
Introducing Rainbow Days -
We’re excited to introduce Rainbow Days. This aims to foster a love for healthy eating, develop fine motor skills, promote safety awareness, and cultivate a respect for real-life tools in our young learners.
Each term, we’ll introduce a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables. Together, we’ll create delicious and nutritious treats like platters and smoothies.
Rainbow Days are a fun and engaging way for your child to learn about healthy eating, develop essential life skills, and discover the joy of cooking and creativity. Through hands-on activities and interactive provocation, your child will have the opportunity to:
Explore a variety of fruits and vegetables: Discover new flavours and textures while learning about the nutritional benefits of each.
Develop fine motor skills: Practise cutting, mixing, and shaping ingredients to build hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
Learn about safety: Understand the importance of proper food handling and kitchen safety techniques.
Cultivate a respect for tools: Use real-life kitchen tools and appliances to develop practical skills and a sense of responsibility.
We have a number of exciting school celebrations and events coming up this term. Below is an overview. Specific details and timings will be communicated closer to the time.

Spare uniform
Please pack a spare set of clothes in your child’s bag.

Photographs - Safeguarding
Parents/carers are requested not to take photographs or videos when on the school site, unless permission has been given (as stipulated on their parent tag).
An exception would be at invited events, where parents are generally given permission to take photos or videos of their own child. This can be clarified at the start of the event.
We take note of children’s independent learning choices and interests and tailor the curriculum content to inspire and motivate each individual. This child-centred approach allows the teachers to ensure that every child is making good progress and building on previous learning experiences.
The learning and achievements for each child is documented in an online learning journal called Seesaw, which parents are able to access.
If you encounter any issues or need any support with logging in to Seesaw, please do not hesitate to reach out to our IT team - [email protected]
Welcome Evening slides will be available to view on ‘My Schools Portal’ (MSP)
We encourage parents to share their thoughts and suggestions for the next term, fostering a culture of open communication. Here is the link for parent feedback.
Ultimately, we want all of our students to grow into positive emotionally intelligent citizens, with a love for learning that will equip them for success in school - and beyond. Thank you for your ongoing support with your child’s wellbeing and learning.
We are looking forward to a busy and fun-filled term; please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher if you have any questions.
